Similar to other padlocks, this locking device has a U-shaped bar hinged at one end, made to be passed through a hasp and staple, or in a chain-link and then snapped shut. Not all padlocks can claim to be of  a marine standard, but stainless steel ones such as this, are suitable for a marine environment.
